13. Remembering the words of a legend

Today, the 6th of February, is the birthday of the greatest legends of cannabis activism who was also a reggae singer, musician, song writer, guitarist and a receiver of Order of Jamaica - Bob Marley

He was one of the biggest supporter of cannabis legalisation during his time and was often seen educating people about the plant.

His most famous quote about cannabis which created controversy at that time among orthodox churches was,

I think people need to be educated to the fact that marijuana is not a drug. Marijuana is a herb and a flower. God put it here. If He put it here and He wants it to grow, what gives the government the right to say that God is wrong?

He considered cannabis as a healing plant and often said it's alcohol that causes destruction and not the herb.

He thought that marijuana use was prevalent in the Bible, reading passages such as Psalms 104:14 as showing approval of its usage. Marley began to use cannabis when he converted to the Rastafari faith from Catholicism in 1966.

He saw cannabis an essential factor in religious and spiritual growth and way to philosophise and become wiser.

Even to this day, around the world, all the cannabis lovers consider him as their leader and hope to one day be able to redo the society as he dreamt.

I wish we were all hippies and did yoga, lived in cottages, smoked weed, accepted everyone for who they are, and listened to wonderful music.
I wish money didn't make us who we are.
I just wish we could redo society"

Bob Marley
